A man who spiked treats with sleeping medication and provided them to youngsters at a summer program in the area has confessed to sexual offenses against two boys both nine and 10.
The accused was taken into custody after eight children and one adult became sick at the location in July.
The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was against a young boy.
Ruben was kept in jail prior to a further hearing on November 28th.
'Treat game'
Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She stated his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer program which he managed.
The man played a "treat game" with the minors, the prosecutor stated, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She stated to the judge Ruben had played this game with the children "for many years", and youngsters had previously become sick the following morning.
She said Ruben had been able to explain this for many years as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had suspicions in recently.
The legal representative continued: "In the summer" his family member had suspicions about the activities, for good reason.
"They chose" to examine in the individual's items."
Mrs Prior KC stated items including infant oil, Vaseline and injection devices were discovered, and his stepson contacted the law enforcement about his worries.
She said the man went on to play the "sweet game" with six boys that night - that Saturday - and they were all sick the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not responded by that time," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, had stated that it was examining the police response of the incident.
The legal representative said the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson notified the law enforcement a second time.
She said Ruben then conducted the "sweet game" in a room of five children.
